I don't know if any of you guys keep old mags. But last year, december 2006, Bicycling magazine had an article on a $23,225 road bike. I have the magazine in my hand right now. The bike is a piece of art, 13lbs!!!

there is no way the bolt would keep the tin guard from slamming into the shock, it would still move back and forth

WTF. That doesnt look like that would work and ya the piece of tin is done if you flying into freakin boulder or some shit

its not a bad looking frame i must say but that piece of tin really irritates me ... im pretty sure it would be better off without it ... save some weight, because it serves no purpose

it's probably mostly for mud protection. it's obvious it won't protect from impact but mud and small rocks flung off the front tire would be deflected by it. it's there for a reason no matter how pointless it is.

To all of you ripping on the DC Special, He's a CU Boulder student (lives near me) and built it all himself, has a floating lower pivot, and the shock guard is made of a garbage can.

Check the vid out, local trails here, and yes, all the shooting is real, and it's like that EVERY weekend. Click on "View feature entry" Lefthand/Carnage Canyon, outside of boulder, CO. Fun rides are available out there, not as rocky as some stuff I usually ride, so some of you can get an idea of why I kill bashguards.....
