How about this bike? Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://www.instablogsimages.com/images/2008/01/09/arantix_7878.jpg It's made by Delta 7 Sports, it's called the "ARANTIX", uses "IsoTruss technology" and is completely made of carbon fibre and kevlar. It's a very cool looking design. Here's their website: http://delta7sports.com/products.html
good design, the octogon shape will prevent cracks from spreading, but 300 hours to buile, and 7000$. its light like 2 pounds or somthing but, you would get so much crap in the frame
Yes, the frame would get packed full of mud, but if I had $7000 to blow, i'd buy one. If I had another $15,000 to blow after that i'd buy the Scott Addict LTD. now that i think of it, if i had $7000 for a frame, i could afford to pay someone to clean it for me.
If I remember right, the "production" version (if you can call it that) is wrapped in a kevlar film and cured, so it is kinda a solid tube to prevent this mud/dirt pack issue.
It ends up looking like its wrapped in saran wrap.

ahh, even if it's not, wrap it in saran wrap to keep the mud out. good point/idea there Hummeroid.
about the airlines comments, um, running out of air in that system is the same as starting a race with flat tires. basic things you check. it was a race-only thing. also, compressed AIR will not explode or do anything bad. its max pressure was only like... 130psi or something.
hydraulic derailleur from 5rot - awesome.. pricey, but awesome. and to whoever said it, all hydraulic systems bleed the same.
gatorbrake - grimeca was making that same, exact stuff, 5+ years ago. every aspect of it.
octagonal carbon kevlar jobbie - anyone see the calfee "spiderweb" frame? wicked lite and cool to ride. i still cant get over how sick that hydro der. looks. that thing is well thought out from what i can see..so many intricate little pieces, and the craftsmanship is definitely there.
