So my lbs is selling off the 2016 Reign 2's for 2200$ which I think is a smokin deal. I was wondering if it might be worth waiting for the 2017, as they are changing quite a bit when you look at the specs (boost, guide r's, SRAM NX 1x11, yari, Monarch Debonair RT, etc) the list price has also been reduced to 3000 from 3400 for the 2016. Thought's? I'm looking to upgrade from my 2012 Heckler, love the bike but its showing it's age.

Spec on the 2017s looking good apart from the yari. I personally prefer the pike. You won't be disappointed with either. I have guide rs on my bike and the wife has guide r and never had a problem with them in 2 years. Brilliant brakes imo. The reign is such a awesome bike and your making a good decision with either one of them.

IMHO the 2016 reign 2 is a better bike than the 2017 Reign 2....the fork alone make the 2016 worth it Wink

Well, i don't agree that pike instead of yari makes 2016 a better deal. Drivetrain, wheels (both - wider tr rims, and much better hubs), dropper post, are much much better than 2016s and that makes comparison of both models much harder. Personally i would choose 2017, cause if i would be disappointed with yari performance i would just need to change one part, not twenty.

between the 2016 Reign 2 and the 2017 reign 2

the wheels(front hub is boost on the 2017 but its still giant branded) are the same the dropper is the same.the running gear is more personal preference but i would take the 2x10 shimano over Sram NX as i would take the Pike over a Yari Wink

Wheels have wider inner width (29mm internal), sealed bearings, and are tubeless ready from the start. Dropper have different internals, and wont be wearing so quickly. Please don't compare spec sheet, as the names of parts, are the same, but how are they made have changed.

From the shop near me. They have already few reigns2017 and have disassembled new fox from 1.5, checked dropper, measured wheels. They have their 1.5 and 2 since giant demo event in late August.
This is why decided to go for 2017 version myself.

Thanks for the responses, sounds like it might be worth it for the 2017 as a better dropper and 1x11 are very useful things, anyone had any experience with the NX 1x11? as good as xt?
