I Found an 05 kona stinky that im considering buying are they any good? its got 66's and so on so forth

hows the linkage in them they have the shock right next to the down post of the frame so does that perform well?

To be honest the 05 kona stinky is the best they've made in my opinion. The newer ones have taken away that basic likability about them and, even though evryone will always love and buy the bikes, they wont ever be the same. From 02 to 05 kona hit a high with their stinky range, and were nearly unbeatable in terms of quality. I have mates who have owned the 05, 06 and 07 versions. 05 was definately the most stylish and astetically pleasing bike. Stinkys to me have seemed to get worse as they go on. Not just in looks, I've ridden them all and again the 05 came out on top. These bikes have a tendancy to be pricey, and I also found they ran pointless triple clamps up front, which were heavy and ugly. You however seem to avoided that with the 66's. Kona's new 08 range seems to be a little more towards what the stinky once was, appropriate and sensible. These are the most common downhill/freeride bikes on the planet. I suggest, checking and comparing the bike's price to many others like it. As I said before konas can leave a dent in the wallet so check brands like specialized and norco. Test the bike and make sure its for you. Kona stinkys are fun to upgrade and if looked after ride well too. I hope this helped and keep shreddin'!

Ermm well, I rode stinky/stab 05 (same frame) and I know many had problems with their headtubes falling off or cracking under, guy who I'am quoting must be a little bit idiot because if you're looking mostly for the astetically and stylish way... good luck then, but stinkys 06-07 felt much better, Im riding 07 one and I think it's looking and performing alot better than my previous frame(05) which headtube almost fell off. It's better for DH and FR in every way and I would not recommend getting you that 05 stinky unless it has warranty on it, 05's easily breaks, It's proven by my experience and many friends had the same problem. im also 14 and weigh 135-140 ish and like to ride my bikes hard but not sure my weight will effect a bike anyways

Two of my friends broke the head tube off of theirs (05 stab garbanzo's, same as stinky just diff. name). Seriously they're not that good. you can find better bikes for the price.

Yes! They are great, this is mine and I really like it. I have raced a lot on it and I have taken it to a lot of mtb resorts, the bike preforms great. And it is kinda a hit every thing bike. Kona is great!

It sounds to me like you have had alot more experience with the bikes. I've never owned one, I was just writing on brief, small ride experiences with the bike. I didnt know that people had problems with the headtubes. I guess it mostly rests on personal opinion. I presume you've ridden tougher tracks and got to know the bike better. The person above is probs a much more reliable review.
