Last week i bought a Norco Shore two (2006), they came with Juicy 5's. Obviously with good brakes i want to stop quickly, but when i pull the brakes after going very fast they seem to jolt and make noise's which sound like the pads are worn down.

I don't think it could the pads because ive only just purchased the bike, the shape of the rotor is not totally round and that might be the problem. It's like this >>

Could you guy please help me into what the problem could be and please say if you've had the same experience.

Thanks

Make sure your caliper, adapter and rotor bolts are all tight. New bikes tend to come loose after the first little bit of riding. Othere then that I do not know what your problem could be. I run juicy 5's on my ht with a 140mm rotor and juicy 7 carbons with 8 inch rotors on my dh rig and they both make a buzzing noise at high speed braking but they both perfome amazingly.

I have heard that the old rotors, roundagons, should make some kind of high noise at some point. But i have never heard of performance problems.

O sorry your talking about the shore in your album?Beer

make sure all the bolts are tight at the caliper, rotor, and adaptor....make sure your rear quick release is nice and tight and that the wheel is in the drop outs correctly.....as for the noise a set of g2 clean sweep rotors should help out

check the bolts as advised by everyone els but also check your frame linkage
bolts and shock bolts as this may also cause the noise

your pads are contaminated is what it looks like to me

is there a black residue on your disk if so new pads and clean your rotor

yeah that black tinge on the rotor looks like you got oil on the pads or something

You can get rid of the oil by just cooking the pads with a blowtorch

^^ haha, that seems pretty harsh. Might try that. The rotors have got a black tinge on them

Yup, by the sounds of it, you either broke them in improperly or they are contaminated with some other gunk. The blow torch idea isnt that harsh. it is just burning off the oil or whatever is on there. just be sure not to keep the flame on one area too long or you could warp the disk, and make sure that your flame is nice and blue or you will leave more black residue if the flame is not hot enough. Be sure to give them a good wipe with some kind of alchohol to get the crap off after the burning or some real mild soap. make sure that they are nice and clean. You mght want to get some new pads, cuz they are probably tainted to now, or at least give them a light sanding on some find sandpaper, pulled tight over a 2X4.
