Hi,

Been riding for years but very little jumping, recently i started doing a lot more riding and been doing mostly red and blue runs, so berms and small drops and table tops.
i brought a Giant Stance and my riding has improved a lot over the hard tail before!
i just fitted a shorter stem if it makes any odds

berms i'm starting to get the hang of, drops i'm doing a small manual move off and working well.

but jumps....

well i tried a table top twice the other day and it went ok, didn't clear it but was okay.

but then on my 3rd try, something happened which seems to happen a lot to me, i went up the ramp, squatted down and popped up at the lip and in the the air i went left, when ever it happens it always rotate left....

landed at the top of the landing ramp, go bucked off sideways, flew, cleared the landing slope and came down hard on the flat....
this happened

so what am i doing wrong? i'm pretty sure i must be pulling up un evenly, should i even be pulling up or what?

any advice would be great! i've got weeks or months to be thinking about it!!

cheers
Andy

Look ahead at the landing and then the run out and try not to dead sailor or freeze in the air, just giving the bars a little tweak an leaning the bike to the side can keep you relaxed and smooth for the landing.

practice small stuff and work up to bigger/faster as you gain technique, experience and confidence.

Everything will correct itself and any "learing incidents" will hopefully be only bumps and bruises.

Hope you make a full and speedy recovery! Salute

Cheers buddy, I think I'm pulling up wrong, I tuck down then spring my body up maybe kind of English bunny hop style?

I'm the first rider, not a great video but you can what I mean on the first of 2 drop.
The table at the end is where I broke my collar bone on the next run but sadly no film!

Use your body weight instead of pulling up with your arms.

First off looks like a good crash. Agreed with above about pulling up with arms. I remember hitting some knarly stuff back in my bmx days. Havent gone too big yet since taking up this discipline. Added Im not as fast healing as I once was.

If you're carring enough speed, most jumps you can pretty much glide right over. And if you do need to manipulate the bike it doesnt really take much. For me, just a squat and a small and even acceleration upward at the top of the lip... but not just with my arms, and definetly not like Im trying to bunny hop onto a park bench.

Sounds to me like you're trying too hard. Perhaps jerking to one side as you pull with your arms and maybe sending your front tire to one side right before getting into the air.
