I run the specialized purgatory in front and ground control on the rear (650x3.0 for both).
I'm not having any problems with corners or climbs/descends.
Hope that helps.

DHF 650x2.8 3C/EXO/TR upfront, and a Rekon 650x2.8 3C/SS/EXO/TR in the back on 35i rims. I use a digital gauge to really get the pressures dialed and am running 20psi up front 22psi in the back. I'm really enjoying the setup.

Bought a Santa Cruz Hightower from a factory mechanic this week...

He's running the:
Front tire Maxxis Minion DHF, 3C Maxxterra EXO TR 27.5 x 2.8
Rear tire Maxxis Minion DHR 2, EXO TR 27.5 x 2.8

Haven't ridden it yet but I run a similar setup in 2.3/2.5 on my Specialized Stumpy 29er and love the Maxxis stuff. Grew up in Western MI and wish mid-fats were a thing back then as coming out of the forest into sand was never fun on the old knobby 26" tires.

For the Front I like a ranger 27.5x2.8 (light casing high grip) rear I like a ranger 26x2.8 (tough casing, fast rolling) both on asym i35 rims in respective diameters.

The bike is a 2017 alloy Bronson frame built up with an Elka stage 5 coil shock and coil-converted X-Fusion Metric fork up front. It's easily my favorite bike I've ever ridden

Terrene Chunk 27.5x3.0 front and rear. More volume and grip than the HR2 of the same size. Very slow rolling but that is ok. My last name isn't Schurter.
