40mm rim tyre size

Would putting a 2.6 tyre on a Scott Genius LT 710 Plus with 40mm internal rims affect the geometry too much? It has 2.8 as stock but some uplifts can't get them in the trailers. I wouldn't want to smash my pedals/BB all the time or end up on oddly shaped tyres etc.
Any thoughts?

Brand from brand and even models between brand differ in actual size, but I assume bb won't go any lower than 5mm
