Google natural/home made weed killer, I looked into last year as my local gets taken over by brambles at a rate you can barely keep up with in summer, never tried any of the recommendations as we don't want the land owners thinking we are using poisons in a sensitive area.

You are going to have to use significant volumes of salt to achieve any measurable results.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? Riding the trail regularly will keep plants from taking hold.

Salt causes more problems than it solves. Roundup works very well with quick knockdown and low residuals.

A weedeater/line trimmer is also good if you add a brushing blade

Roundup is a good option. The stuff will kill everything and then you can just go over the area with a weedwacker or lawnmower to keep stuff at bay the rest of the summer.
