2015 Genius 710 LT vs 2017 Genius 720 LT Plus

The 2015 Genius 710 LT is second hand, I've checked it out and it seems to be in good condition but have only rode it up and down the street. It has various mods including Renthal fatbars, a Burgtec stem and a 1x11 drive train with oval chainring (think it's a SRAM GX.) Or for an extra few hundred quid I could get a brand new 2017 Genius 720 LT Plus. Have been a bit put off the latter option by reviews like this one: http://blistergearreview.com/gear-reviews/2017-scott-genius-lt-plus

Makes me think last years LT Plus could be a totally different beast and I might not like it as much as the one I demoed. I like the dropper post and twinloc setup on the 2018 better than the 2015 but I think the 2017 is different from both so still a bit of an unknown quantity.

If anyone with experience of different models can offer any wisdom it would be much appreciated. If I like the feel of a 2018 Genius will I equally like the feel of a 2017 LT Plus? Or did they actually screw up the suspension that year?

I have taken it to DH parks and it was fantastic and I did not contact a rim or ever feel out of control on the loose shale rock but the traction on the dirt or large rock gave me a lot of confidence. I have 2.8 Nobby Nics running tubeless and I did not have any issues. I will be installing the Maxxis Minion DHF 2.8's once the NN's are finished.

I recommend the plus tires because you can always buy a 29er wheel set and switch back and forth depending on your riding. I have not done this but several of my friends have.

I love the twin loc controls, and once you start using them you will see that it is just as valuable as a dropper remote.

Thanks for the response, I ended up getting the second hand 2015. A few rides in and the twinloc has stopped working on the rear shock, but still pretty stoked with it anyway.
