I picked up a set of Mt7’s To replace my Guide R’s. My goodness do they have stopping power. Overall I am pretty happy with them, however I am having a few minor issues with the setup and wondering if anyone has a few tips.

Firstly there seems to be almost 0 clearance for the rotor to spin freely without rubbing on the pads, since there are 4 pads per caliper it seems to complicate this issue as it gets nearly perfect on one set of pads and then the other is slightly rubbing.

The other issue is bleeding the rear break is a real nightmare. Luckily on my Jeffsy the line is not internally routed so I can pull the break off and hang it vertically but I can’t seem to match the firmness of the rear break 100% to the front break.

And lastly, is the pad bite adjust wheel on the lever really only supposed to be about 4-5 clicks/half a rotation. It doesn’t seem to make much of a difference.

Thanks for the help.

I would do this.

Remove the pads from the caliper and gently push the pistons back to flush with the caliper face.

Put the pads back in.

Hand center the caliper and tighten down the caliper bolts until they are nearly tight but just loose enough for the caliper to have the ability to move back and forth a bit.

Spin the wheel and grab the brake that you need to tighten so that the wheel stops (this would be a firm stop type of a deal).

With the brake still on (wheel doesn't move) tighten down the caliper bolts to the right torque. I like to alternate turns on each caliper bolt to help keep things straight.

Magura brakes self center so any slight rubbing at this point will go away with a couple of hard stops on the caliper.

Once in awhile I will loose the caliper and make micro adjustments to the caliper if needed.

I struggled with bleeds on Magura brakes (mostly making a mess both of the process and on the garage floor) until I watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fbb8G3TCNug

A very similar video that is more recent is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6hmHi6Jbv8

A couple of tricks in the process made the light bulb go on for me for bleeding Magura brakes and once you get the hang of it the process is pretty easy.

I can't speak to the bit adjust unfortunately.
