Sweet! See you out there. If prior years weather demons hold, expect wet and muddy! We've had one dry race day in the last two and a half seasons (10 races). Fingers crossed that the only wet day in February will be three or four days prior to get the trails running uber!

What division have you entered?

Rotorua MTB Club is running it this year for first time. Hopefully they continue with the good stuff from prior years, but improve the bits that weren't quite 100% (like arrows pointing to the various stages! Even I've gotten lost, and I know the place!)

Did enter something like 4 Stage Shuttled Race 3.Dont really know what the difference are.
And having hard time finding map online where and what trails are in race and trailheads start and ends. Guess you get paper map at arrival to start.

Yeah, you get given a map in your race pack. Trails being raced are not released until the Thursday night prior to the race. There will be around 500 people racing, so easy enough to tag along with some people.

There are no set start times, everyone self seeds, and all you have to do is do the ride in under six hours to not have time penalties. You can even run trails more than once, but bear in mind that you will only have the three uplifts.

General rule of thumb when shuttling is to ride to the first stage, and shuttle the rest. Shuttle on the last stage always comes in handy!

And you can do the stages in any order you want.

Stages will generally be set right across the forest, so still expect to ride around 30km.

Shuttled means that you will have three uplifts provided on the shuttle bus, and one hill you will have to climb.

Trails normally used for the four stage are blue trails, or intermediate to advanced. Being the final race of the series, they might throw in one of the easier black trails.

Trails that you might race would be:

Gunna Gotta
Paddy's Run
Old Exit
Corners
Hot Cross Buns
Turkish Delight
Billy T (if it hasn't been felled)
Box of Birds
Dragons Tail
Grinder
Katore Jumps
Split Enz
Kung Fu Walrus

Most all of those you'll be able to find video of on YouTube or linked from TrailForks.
