Fat tire front plus rear

I am wondering if just putting a 4” fat bike tire on the front of my fuel ex would be a cheaper option than just buying a fat bike for snow biking. I was thinking of using one of those $100 eBay forks with some cheapo rim. I live in Wisconsin and just want a cheap way to ride in the winter. Has anyone tried this? Would this be a good idea?
