Enduro biker studying in Barcelona - how to hire bike, get to trails?

Looking for suggestions for a college student studying in Barcelona January thru early April who is an avid enduro/freestyle biker in the Pacific Northwest. He won't have his bike or gear with him. Any ideas on how to rent a bike and helmet and get to the trails nearby without a car? If he could do that once or twice during his time, that would help keep him sane.

Use Trailforks, you have tons of information there, both for rental advice and guiding options. For riding, you have Montjuic area right inside the city. Then Collserolla is not far away, you can reach the place on public transportation.
