Has anyone had this problem? The metal "do not disassemble"seal on the ratchet ground itself down which let a spring slip out of position, which dug into both the main hub bearing seal and the backside freehub bearing.

No, but now I’m worried. I just built a wheel around this hub. What symptoms did you experience?

Think it may be a common issue. From an online review of Deviate Highlander

"With a Shimano XT 12-speed drivetrain and their new 4 pot brakes, we were expecting rugged reliability and were surprised to run into issues almost immediately. The Shimano 12 speed micro spline freehub failed catastrophically after a few weeks of riding. Now, while parts do break, and freehubs do fail, this is not our first Shimano XT micro spline freehub that has developed issues"

I'm not sure if it was a symptom or not, but it ran nearly silent from new. I never experienced any engagement issues.

Mine cuts in and out. I’ve read that it’s because the Scylence mechanism is 99% intact but without the spring that forces the drive plates apart when coasting.
