I finally got my dream bike but the Fox X2 shock was leaking oil all over the place when I got it. Service was very helpful and sent out a new shock quickly. Unfortunately, the one they sent out does not have the same custom tune ID as the one that came with it.

Original is (DN3Y):
2019, FLOAT X2, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, YT, Capra 27.5in, 250, 75, 0.3 Spacer x4, CM, YS-9309-1/PMS-425, Gray Logo

Replacement is (DPPZ):
2019, FLOAT X2, F-S, K, 2pos-Adj, YT, Capra 27.5in, 250, 75, 0.3 Spacer x4, CM, YS-2161/YS-7978, Gray Logo

My guess is one of them is a 2019 Model Year shock that came on a 2018 or 2020 MY bike. If you have 2018 - 2020 MY Capra Pro Race can you share your custom tune ID so I can unravel this mystery?

Also, if anyone has the magic decoder ring and can translate what YS-2161/YS-7978 or YS-9309-1/PMS-425 means I’d be in your debt.

Hi,

I had the exact same thing happen to my brand new Capra Pro Race, but they won't send me a new shock, Fox wants me to ship them the original to be repaired. Just out of interest did Fox send you a replacement without having to send yours in? or Did YT send you one?

Hi,
The YS-2161/YS-7978 or YS-9309-1 are YS paint codes ( http://www.siminoebike.com/a/News/2017/0429/20.html ) The PMS 425 is a Pantone colour code.( https://i.pinimg.com/736x/16/1a/c1/161ac12a6a9cefc139fd63c532aca665--pantone-palette.jpg )

The only reason I now know this is that my 2020 Fox 36 forks spec actually listed the fox graphics as YS codes instead of actual colours.
( Short ID: DWK2 - Description: 2020, 36, K, FLOAT, 29in, F-S, 160, Grip 2, HSC, LSC, HSR, LSR, Matte Blk, YS 706/YS 953-1 Logo, )
So I put the codes in google and I eventually found that they were actually YS colour codes, Which I assume is due to the Fox Graphics being custom colours to match the bikes colours.
