Thumbs Down get a real DH/FR bike this bike will not survive after 1 day or maybe after 1 ride off DH abuse on a real DH track. This is a XC bike.Get a Bighit great starters DH/FR bike that will last years off DH riding

single crown fork, looks to be 100-120mm of travel, small most likely weak rear shock. drivetrain looks to be complete rubish, and that frame looks to be XC. you could race but i garantee your not going to win or even place top 3 for that matter. probably after each day of riding you will have to replace a part. that's pretty much an XC rig, AM at the most. its not going to hold up to anything downhill. save up and get an actual rig.

this bike looks like something you could get at k-mart. look for a used DH bike not a P.O.S look for some giants or a demo if you can afford it.

if he's that short on money. just get like an early 2000 norco. theirs some for as low as $600 that will actually hold itself together. if you show up to the hill with that you will be lucky enough if they actually certify it as safe enough to ride, but then getting down is a hole other story. i guantee if you try even a 2 foot drop that rear shock is going to bottom out and most likely blow itself.
