Looking to get a bike need help with sizes

Hello all. I used to ride BMX when I was a kid but looking to get a mountain bike. I am 5’ 7” and 200 pounds. Not sure of the size I should get and since all bike shops near me are basically sold out I can’t really check and see the size. Should I get s m or l and would a 27 or 29 be better? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also the bike will be used and equal amount on the street as well because I will use it to exercise during the week and trails or the weekends so any bike recommendations would be nice too. Thank you.

You may want to run with a Medium.
I am 5'11" and ride a Medium, but i ride a little more aggressive and like the feel of the Medium compared to a large.

Probably 29er hard tail. I believe most bikes are going to 29'ers anyways. Guys who ride 27.5'er or 650B's are your enduro/downhill guys.

If you are mostly riding street and possibly a few trails here and there. You will be fine with a hardtail 29er.

Since it will be my first bike prob not looking to spend a crazy amount just so I can get used to it and find what I like until I upgrade but prob 500-600 or so
