Might Buy NOS Flux Carbon

After pouring over various geometries of XC/Trail bikes (mostly Santa Cruz/Pivot), I keep coming back to the Flux carbon. I have an aluminum flux and will give that to my son.

Thoughts? Out of warranty, I'm sure, but new, unbuilt frames are available at Cambria.

It's old-skool geometry. Dave Turner even stated on mtbr that he had should have adopted the "modern geometry" back in 2012.

It doesn't matter what geometry your bike has if it doesn't fit you and how you ride the trails that you frequent. I own a Carbon Flux, and have owned aluminum versions. The Carbon Flux is great if you are doing a lot of steep climbing and are riding tight trails. You haven't told us how and what you ride. If you are a bikepark/shuttle rider, it probably isn't the bike for you.

I agree! I still own an XL aluminum Flux and if Turner made the carbon model in XL I would be riding that bike today. But having no warranty only works for me if I get it dirt cheap.

This is an old thread, but how did it go? Did you ever go through with it? Saw an interesting thread on MTBR.com where Dave Turner himself saying he’s riding a Flux a size bigger, with a -2 degree headset. Cut the seat post tube to allow for a longer dropper. Sounded good in theory, and nothing to lose cutting the tube, since there is no warranty.

As for buying one of these off Cambria, it’s a screaming deal right now, just don’t fool yourself about what you’re getting. It’s a dated frame with absolutely no support/warranty from the factory If anything goes wrong. Maybe the price is worth the risk, but Turner won’t do anything if something goes wrong. He just can’t.

I bought an RFX in what was probably one of his last batches before phasing out suspension bikes entirely. I cracked the seat stay, and he just had no inventory to send me — this was a bike that was technically still under warranty. Got nothing for it. I don’t blame them; he was basically out of business from the suspension bikes. But it was disappointing.
