It’s corrosionunder the paint. That can happen when water gets between the steel rivers and the aluminum frame. Call Ibis with pics and see if warranty covers it

Yeah that’s a bummer for sure. Let us know what Ibis says, I would be curious.
Be careful with the garden hose when cleaning your bike.
So yeah, they are willing to waranty it. I really don't want a new frame so I asked for some touch up paint and that is the route I'm going to go. I like to keep my bike clean between rides. I guess this is the price to pay. It's worth it to me tho.

If you’re doing the repair yourself, you need to remove the emblem, sand all of the corrosion away down to bare metal, then apply touch up paint and blend. It’s a much bigger job than just touching up a paint chip

Yup. I'm waiting for some cold weather so I can do it over a weekend. If I'm not too lazy I'll post results.
Get the new frame. The entire area needs to be stripped , some kind of correct primer applied and the the top coat ...why do this yourself?? Unless you are a professional painter with a spray booth. I'm sure ibis doesn't want a shitty paint job on their product. That's why they want to give you a new frame.
It is a pretty heavy workflow to paint this the right way. I would send it back to Ibis and let them refurbish it and sell it used or give it to an employee.
