Hey Everyone...I'm looking for a used entry level enduro bike in the $1,500USD range. Other than the Giant Reign and Commencal Meta, I'm not sure where to look. Even with these 2 options, I'm coming up with few choices. It seems everything for sale is in British Columbia and I'm in Michigan.

Anyone have any input on this?

There are currently 6700 bikes for sale on pink bike. Do your research, find the size you think will suit you and start shopping.

Check out Polygon, Canyon, YT and other direct brands. Only way you’re going to Find an enduro, or trail, bike for $1500.

Well, think though, 'entry level'; if it's only about the cost, the rider is knowledgeable and capable enough to find a used bike w/plenty of life left in it, and beef it up to spec' over time. Experienced riders typically can tell what/when things need service or maintenance. And ALSO what kind of frame is going to accept what they have planned for fitting future suspension and/or components.

If 'entry level' implies the rider's experience (regardless of age), a newer bike for not too much money is better for several reasons. As the rider's experience/skill advances they'll learn to know what they SHOULD be spending more money on based on acquired knowledge of bikes/components as well as learning their limitations. A skilled and experienced rider would know exactly what about a particular used bike was valuable, and also what to service/replace/repair. An entry level enthusiast could make a very costly mistake that way. At least with a new bike, even though limited by component quality in lower price class, everything is new, warrantied in most cases, and has no mystery as to how much or little shocks forks and drivechain have been serviced. That I think would concern me if I wasn't more knowledgeable.

Your suggestion though IS pretty slick. I saw those Giant Reigns in 29s. I love Kona and those Giants kind of remind me of the newer Process 153 frames. Is it me or are those very similar? I'd say if I had to stay around that 3k or so budget I'd totally have to try one out. 160mm RS Yari that sounds like fun. The press fit BB isn't too much an issue in that class, but if you get a LOT of use out of it other things are more important. The brakes are ok. I'm one that kind of likes the tight action of shimano brakes, and I've found that even in the lower price class Shimano excite me more than the SRAM. I'm trying these SRAM now on my SJ, but they're CODE RSC so I'm trusting they'll continue to feel as good later as they do now. Just on the lower end price class I think Shimano does a better job. I'd THINK the NX drivechain could be later upgraded to the GX, but it still looks like a nice upgradable bike w/a slick frame for that money. Giants are tough bikes.

I'm typically a person who does a lot of research and gains knowledge before buying, but lately, time hasn't allowed me to do that and I was slightly discouraged when I posted this because most bikes I was coming across were out of my budget and region. Also I struggle to compare bike components even after researching, it seems there are so many variables that confuse me, so once again thank you to those who have provided thoughtful input so far.

Can anyone provide input on this bike? When I see a bike like this I immediately think the Giant Reign for $1,000 more is a brand new bike, but I know the Fox 36 fork and DT swiss hubs are pretty awesome. My other thought is I put this purchase on hold till next year when the used market isn't as crazy like this year and maybe my budget is a little higher.

That bike is pretty old. It also says that it needs a new dropper post which would cost 100-200 dollars plus installation (or you could do it yourself if you have the tools). The bike has nice parts, but it is from 2012, so it could be in great condition, or in horrible condition.
I definitely wouldn’t buy it without being able to check it out in person (though I do know some people who bought bikes sight unseen and everything worked out for them)

Before potentially considering a YT. Check these two threads out, and inform yourself. They can be a huge headache to deal with, usually only after you've purchased a bike. Usually issues are with warranty issues and customer service. I am NOT trying to bash them, at all. I just don't want to see you get shafted. Especially if you're just getting into the sport. Just be careful and do your research. I hope you find a solid bike for you! Cheers Smile

You should also look into a polygon siskiu. It’s not a huge travel enduro (150/140 I think), but I know riders on bikes with that much travel who are amazing and much better than I ever was on a 180/165 bike. It’s worth a look at least.

RIGHT?! That's a great build and price! AND it has Lyrik forks, Hayes Dominion a4 brakes, super deluxe coil, brand new one-up dropper post! Good components and price Big Grin

It is a great bike, but they haven’t reposted it since last august so I suspect it might have sold and they forgot to mark it as such. Definitely worth reaching out to anyway though.
