What you actually mean is “Endo ON!!“

Best to check the specs for something like that than to ask randos on the internet who may or may not know what they are talking about. Max width is only half of what you need to know. Max tire diameter is just as important and SRAM also list this on their web site. The max is 760 for the bluto so no for the 27.5”x4.5”. May fit under the arch, but will hit the crown at full compression and send you over the bars.

My 27.5 x4.5 studded Dillingers mounted on 80mm rims did rub a little on the Bluto's brace. The problem isn't the width, but the overall diameter.

would NOT fit bluto is a 26er fork, but you can do a 27.5 by 3.8incher tho

It won't fit unless you were on narrow rims.

O+

Mulefut 80 with Terrene Cake Eater 27.5 x4.5” don’t fit, bought them and had to return…. I went with 27.5 x 4.0”, plenty of space, wish the 4.5’s would of fit!

I have 26 x 4.8 on my Bluto.

A 27.5 x 4.5 is taller than a 29 x 2.6”? That’s what my second wheelset is for my fat bike with a Bluto. Fits nicely though a bit odd looking with all that space on either side especially the rear. Let all air out and doesn’t hit the crown.

I would think Rim width make a big difference. I have no suspension but for context, I switched to a 80mm hed wheel, slightly more narrow then the last wheelset. And man it’s tighter getting the Thule rack over the front tire.

I don’t know squat about the bluto but I imagine if your rim is narrow it will push the tire higher increasing the overall diameter. So in some circumstances you might fit under the crown and in some you might not.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Edit: maybe tire casing too?
I also switched tire brands. All I’m saying is I wouldn’t base it off just the one tire size.
Anyone have a good link for that I’d be interested in it. In my case it’s a huge difference.

27.5x4.5 is definitely taller than 29x2.6. I have a 29+ wheelset for my fatcaad with 36mm internal rim width and 29x3.0, and they fit comfortably in the bluto. But yes, the narrower the rim, the taller the tire will be.

Depending on the brand, a 27.5x4.5 might fit. I originally tried a studded 45north dillinger5 and it was touching the arch quite a bit. I've recently tried a studded bontrager Gnarwhal 27.5x4.5, and while it's close, it doesn't touch. For reference, my rims are 80mm.

I'm pretty sure you have that backwards.

The 4.5 Gnarhwal is bigger than the Dillinger 5.

The 4.5 Barbegazi doesn't clear the Bluto, there's no way the Gnarwhal does. the 3.8 version will easily though

If you have pics of the 4.5 Gnarwhal clearing the Bluto, please post them

The comments here confirm what I'm saying:

I’ve now had a chance to try it with studs, too. The studs scrap against the fork on the top. This tire is a definite no-go on the Bluto.

and by Mikesee here:

FWIW, the 4.5" Gnarwhal's (getting back to the title of this thread) don't even come close to fitting in Bluto. Honestly not sure if the smaller Gnar's fit either.

This guy tried it on a Farley EX and no go either:

https://www.mtbr.com/threads/2017-trek-farley-ex-full-suspension-fat-bike.1009296/page-15

Took the wheels and tires off my farley 9.6 with 260km and tubeless. Put them on my friends new 19.5" ex 8 and there was no way they were fitting. Full lug contact with the chain-stay by the crank, full lug contact to the arch. Had 9ish psi in the tires.

Both are 27.5x4.5. The Bluto with the Bontrager on has about 1mm of material removed from the arch (I use a Pike for my 29+ setup, and I own an aluminum welder, so I took a chance instead of getting 27.5x4.0). Even with the arch modification, the Dillinger 5 still rubbed (sorry, no pics). I ended up getting the Gnarwhal after I noticed how much bigger the Dillinger5 is when a few of the guys I ride with started riding Farleys this season. Not sure how well the Gnarwhal would fit in an unmodified Bluto though.

Got it, the Dillinger is taller. I thought you were saying wider.

Thanks for the pics, that doesn't leave much clearance for snow and debris that's for sure

Modified Bluto gotcha, from the links i posted, stock is no bueno
