I have a RS reverb AXS 170 mm 31,9ø dropper post on my hardtail. After 9months I discovered some nasty scratches on the shafts' backside. I sent it back to the store and they replaced it under warranty. After 5 months now I found similiar scratches on the new seatpost. The scratches are caused by the internals,
not by falling or inapropriate use.
Does anyone else experienced these issues?

I'm a bit late to reply but it might be good for other people searching for similar issues.

I've had somewhat similar issues with my Rockshox Reverb Stealth. My first Reverb showed scratches after a few rides and soon completely refused to move back up.
The second and third reverb I received through warrenty showed scratches during the first ride, the third one even after the very first actuation.

The only difference is that my Reverbs all had the scratches on the front of the post. All on the lower half of the stanchion.

My Reverb is a 200mm 31.6mm C1 model. I think the reverb simply can't handle the internal forces when paired with a somewhat heavier rider. I sometimes wonder if they forgot riders that use a long dropperpost are also generally taller and thus heavier people. I mean, I'm a little over 100kg but I'm not overweight.

I'm now trying to get a refund and have my eyes set on a One-up or Bikeyoke dropperpost.

I switchen over to pnw loam dropper very fast delivery from US to Europe, no additional taxes or customs and check with lifitime warranty. My axs lies somewhere in the box waiting for me to ship it back to Bike Components.

Hey, what kind of scratches did you have?
On mine I just noticed 2 parallel scratches basically the whole length of the stanchion.
Wondering if yours was similar.
Do you know what the issue was?

I had this happen to a couple of my AXS Reverbs, sent in a post twice and covered under warranty, SRAM said the post was bent and the scratches came from the internals rubbing since it was bent. I currently have a 150mm that is out of warranty with 2 "racing stripes" on the back of the post, still functions perfectly fine so I am just gonna run it till it totally fails. It's been like this for almost a year now.

I have the same issue. AXS Reverb 170. The shop that took it apart also said it’s because the post is bent. I’m a second owner since it came on a bike I bought used. When I got it it had a single line up the post where it had been scratched and then progressively got worse to where the whole front on the lower part of it has had the black coating scraped off. Since I’m not the original owner SRAM won’t warranty the post.

Thankfully my LBS is going to hook me up with a $200 discount to purchase a new one…

I’m wondering if I should just go to a cable actuated post, save some money, and get a longer drop as well. I have about 4” of post out on the 170. I’m 5’11 on an S4 stump jumper. Thoughts?

I went from two axs droppers with scratched stanchions to oneup 210 on a stumpjumper evo S4. No issues after 2,5 years. More drop, less worries.
