Hi all, new (ish) to the forum. Long time listener and all that.
I've been at a bit of a loss as to what hardtail to buy as my do it all for the next few years.
I've had a Giant Fathom 2 for a few years and while its great I wanted to upgrade I also want to go up to 29er.
Although the great stock shortage of 2020/2021 is still very real.
I've managed to find one of these https://www.orangebikes.co.uk/bikes/clockwork-evo-29-s/2021 in my size. Before I pull the trigger are there any other bikes bikes around that price range that anyone would recommend? Bike will be used for everything from carting the kids in a trailer to light trail use!
Also can't find any reviews of the new Orange Clockwork so if anyone on here has one feedback would be much appreciated!
Toyed with the idea of doing one up but with the arrival of my second child I gave up very quickly!
It kind of sounds like you want an XC bike. Caynon Exceed CF 7 and Trek Pro Caliber 9.5, Specialized Chisel. For Trail, Santa Cruz Chameleon R, Caynon Stoic 4 also good, Specialized Fuse. The orange bike is kind of overpriced.

Thanks for the quick response. I looked at a couple of CF bikes but was worried that it'll end up expensive with my clumsiness! I was concerned that the Orange was overpriced I did manage to score a 15% discount taking it down to £1500.
I am also likely going to use a GX groupset that I bought to do up my fathom with and sell on the SX groupset. I will agree the fork is a little underwhelming though.
Both of those specialized would be interesting if I could get an XL in stock before may 2022 haha!
