Looking for for some sizing guidance for my first XC racer. Am really interested in the Sniper XC but I fall in the gray area of their sizing chart at 163cm (5 ft 4 and a half).

Wondering if I need a Small or a Medium. For reference, I'm in Florida so intended use will be mostly XC racing and singletrack. Anyone have any advice?

I'm 5'4 and ride an intense sniper trail in medium - fits perfect for me.
It really depends on your riding style but for mine (less airtime, more about stability and pure speed) a medium is perfect.

Did either of you have issues with the length of the dropper post on the medium (150mm)? The Sniper has a pretty long seat tube, and I'm worried that with the dropper that comes with it, I won't be able to get the saddle low enough.

Certainly a size small. Everyone has different proportions and can adapt to whatever but since your height is towards the shorter end, I would believe a small is perfect. I ride a small and I’m 5’6”. I’m right on the cusp but prefer the smaller frame. I’ve had mediums and would always need to compromise somewhere. They just didn’t handle natural to me like the smalls. Good luck

Best thing to do would be to measure your true inseam(C-F). Determining standover height will immediately show if the M frame will feel big when flat footed over the frame. Also, check out https://geometrygeeks.bike/ and compare your old bike to the Intense to see which numbers match up in key areas (Standover, Reach, etc.)

You won't be able to get the stock 150mm dropper post down low enough - I agree the Medium and above have too long seat tube. I had to change my dropper to a Oneup 120mm and even then it is slammed - I'm able to get the full 120mm though...
