How much are you willing to pay to ride XC?

After 20 years of riding all the world's greatest trails for free in BC, it is hard to imagine paying to ride trails (non shuttle,non lift). I noticed that hardwood hills in Barrie charges about $20 per rider! Did they get hot tubs for the apres? Wtf? I can't imagine dropping almost $50 after taxes for my wife and I to ride for a couple of hours.

How much do you easterners feel is reasonable to pay? Interestingly, our government supports our trailbuilders financially because the bike trails bring in so much tourism and improve the health of the community. Speaking about all this, I thinkn I'm going to give some trail karma on trailforks - God bless our free trails out here.

Recreation is unfortunately expensive when you add up all the costs. Toronto guy here as well. I just paid $6.50 to ride at Kelso, and i'm ok with paying every once in a while since the trail upkeep is nice. Yeah yeah only like 100-200m of elevation, but thats just the game here in the GTA. It's not really fair to compare out west to Ontario. $6.50 + $10 in gas isn't bad for a nice outing. I'd rather do that then pedal my mtb down Lakeshore (The Don aside). For men's league hockey it works out to like $20-$25 a game for maybe 25min of ice when you break it down into shifts. $1 a shift!
