My wife has rented a slayer (park) a few times this season and loves it. She is thinking of getting an ex rental but Im wondering if a maiden frame and building it up might be even better. Anyone ridden both and can offer any insite? She rides blues. 5’3ish.
Cheers!

You may find more answers in the PB Rocky Mountain forum.
Just looking at the Rocky Mountain website right now they aren't making the Maiden anymore - you can look at it in the 2019 archives. I know it's a pretty killer bike and definitely different from the Slayer which is more of your all mountain steed. If all your wife expects to do is DH or ride park the Maiden seems like a winner...if you can find one.
Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the reply ben, ill go post in the rm forum too. Its purely for a park bike and the maiden is a 2019 frame.

Last word - if possible see if you can find a Maiden for her to ride. People can be funny - they find preference for things that others don't perceive. Your wife may have attraction for the Slayer beyond your comprehension. It would be a shame to build a full on DH beast only to have her say she thinks it's okay, but liked the Slayer better.

Hi! I've ridden both, the Maiden and the Slayer park edition. I liked the Maiden much more. But only due to the fact that it was a frame build-up with really decent parts. Also, the Maiden was a 27.5" (More playful). As for the Slayer park edition, it was a rental. And I had a hard time getting along with it. My biggest issue this the Slayer Park is that they fit 170mm cranks on it with a 32-tooth chain ring. And it was hard to get it to go fast with such a small chain ring and long cranks. It's labeled as a "Park Bike" But I couldn't spin up the gearing fast enough to clear big jumps, ran out of speed. (Topped out) And the Slayer had more of a DH race bike geo feeling to it. Very slack and long 29er. I know you could always upgrade parts to fit your style. But the Maiden just performed better for park riding. Hope this info help.

Thanks very much for the info rbp. Exactly what i was after. I was worried the maiden might feel a bit serious/racey so its good to hear it feels more the other way around. Cheers
