Hi Evil riders Taking advantage of this new section, why not create individual threads for each model, so It would be easier to find info about it Anyway… Would you still buy an Evil calling today ( used but well taken care of) or do you guys think is starting to be a little bit dated?
Great idea ( c'est cool un post ici pour ce chouette bike ) Bought it in augustus 2021 to replace My Nomad v4.
My Calling with 160mm front fork and 143mm rear travel (55mm travel dhx2). Honestly...he's better than my Nomad v4 almost everywhere (not on big jump). Actually the best bike I've ever owned.
Super fun bike. Rides like it has more then 130mm of travel. Easily the most fun bike I have owned. Everything from trail to park is no issue for this one.
I am rebuilding a 2019 Evil Calling carbon 27.5. The headset angle on this model is about 66.4 degrees which is on par with other trail bikes. I want to put in a 1.0degree angle headset to bring it more inline with an Enduro geometry in the 65.4 degree range. Plus when I converted my 2015 Trek Remedy to a 29in front shock and tire, I really appreciated the larger tire up front. I will do the same to the Evil Calling, which will add another 0.75degree in the slack direction. QUESTION: Has anyone converted the headset (any brand) to slacken the geometry? Did they like the slacken feeling from the headset conversion?
The Seat Tube Angle at 74.8 is perfect to ride uphill.
Glad i found this group chat, i used to own an Evil Following, loved the thing but always kept gravitating towards the Calling, How have people found it for saddle day riding, like mixed terrain full day out, up and down hills.
I have the chance of one that has been well looked after for a good price and really tempted to pull the trigger as my riding style has changed
Longest ride I have done on mine is 5 hours. Used the climb switch but pretty easy to live with for long rides, especially given its downhill confidence.
Anyone have comments on putting a 29" up front? what fork? how does it ride?
My EVIL carbon had a 27 wheel set. I took out the front fork and put on a Fox Elite 160mm that runs the 29in. I did this on the advice or a tech at the Evil factory store in Bellingham, Washington. ( I live close by). I also put in a 1.5degree angle head set to make it slacker. Oh ya baby! I ride faster with more confidence. Riding up hill is not problem. Those people that say a 29in is harder to take corners have never tried it. The larger wheel rolls over uphill tree roots, rocks, logs, etc. On downhill, the 29in wheel is superior to a 27in front wheel. Keeping the back wheel at 27in keeps the bike nimble to whip the tail etc. I live on the BC coastal mountains and ride Whistler, Squamish, and the north shore mountains. The bad side, I was riding the Atlas Mountains in north Africa and had a terrible accident in their earth quake 18 months ago. Emg evac for spinal surgery. Can no longer ride. My bike is up for sale. Check my add. Ask me more about the ride if you want
