This was my first bike getting into the sport two summers back, fits me well and I've loved it however I'm definitely at the point of desiring better brakes than the tektros and a better shock than the X fusion, rest of the bike seems fine. Curious if it's worth spending the 500-800$ on new brakes and shock vs. selling the bike for ~1600 and buying a new specialized status, yt, or commencal etc. around 3k. Or if there's any other upgrades you might recommend for the Marin?

Upgraded my 21 alpine trail and love it.

Got a status for my 14 year old and he rips on it.

Selling the alpine trail and getting a status would be my advice.

Cheaper and and you get similar results

this, upgrading a bike is almost never cost effective
