Hello everyone, I have a Fox 38 Grip2 with aprox 50 hours of use. Since new it has this very strange issue. When left unused for at least an hour and pull the handlebars it makes this weird clunk. If you use it it will not make the sound and seems to work as it should. But as soon as its leaning over the wall for more than an hour and pull on the handlebars, again this clunk.

I have already did a lower leg service and everything seemed ok, unfortunately the sound is still present.

Hey, curious if you ever found a fix for this problem. currently having the exact same issue with my factory 36 grip 2. It happens when and the bike is just sitting and then de-weighted or during climbing and the fork is de-weighted. The little pop is super annoying and I wish fox would get there act together on there quality control. My fork is only 3 months old.

3 of my last 3 fox 36's have knocked. 1 perf elite, 2 factorys... all 3 are 2022 models... just fox things.

Have you found and fix or ever contacted fox about it? doesn't seem like anything is wrong when going downhill but everytime the bike sits or is de weighted during climbing it makes that same pop noise from the video above. Never had any fork do this except for my 2022 36. To me is seems like the damper is messed up or the fork is topping out? just doesn't make much sense in my head. I've also done a lower leg service like 4 weeks ago.

My perf elite went to fox 3 times "we dont know what your talking about"... dumb asses i told them to push on the crown quickly to hear it knocking...
They didnt do it and kept sending it back to me... Bought second hand g2 damper for it.... issue gone. ended up letting that fork go with a frame.

ended up buying two factory 36's for two builds, both knocked....... and continue to knock over fast chatter.
Been serviced by fox, both continue to knock............. I bought a new reign last year with a perf elite 38, It just made wooshie rebound sounds which is perfect, best fork ive ever owned.

my ZEB used to do exactly what this thread is about. both ended up creaking after first park day so they were sold straight away.

I have heard a similar sound a few times when taking my bike off the rack (the kind of rack where bike sits on a platform and gets strapped down and held upright but fork not compressed).

It’s probably not as loud as in the video but noticeable every time you lift the front wheel off the rack to the point that I’m surprised when it doesn’t do it.

My fork is a 2020 36 P elite with Grip 2 damper. I have recently put a coil conversion into this fork and the sound is the same. Can’t replicate it when I want to find out what it is which is frustrating.

Don’t believe it affects the performance of the fork. Everything feels tight and no play so I guess it’s just one of those mystery bike noise things.

Yes, according to information I gathered is something in the damper, as if it's low on oil as I've been told. I since sold the fork because I could not stand the noise on a 1,250$ fork. Moved to a Lyrik which has been great, simple fork no issues.

I got in contact with buttery suspension today and he's super great a knowledgeable. He speculates that it could that the air spring has too much grease and needs to be cleaned and reset since the top out of the stroke is controlled by the negative air chamber. I will continue to update this as I keep digging towards solving this problem. Gunna contact Fox tomorrow and see what they say. Curious if there customer service is any good to be honest.

I hope yours is fixed by it. But in my experience it didn't. I spent almost 100$ in tools (bullet for air shaft and the bits that thread and then you smack them to release the lowers). Thoroughly cleaned the air shaft and serviced it with correct amount of slickoleum. Unfortunately clunk was still present, so no air spring was not the culprit.

Just wanted to give an update to this thread in case anyone is having the same issues. Sent my fork in to be looked at by fox and they ended up diagnosing the problem to be coming from the grip 2 damper. So they ended up putting a whole new damper in my fork under warranty. So this issue seems to be a damper issue. Fox's customer service was honestly amazing, took them only 2 days from receiving my fork to get it fixed. Im pretty impressed with them compared to rockshox who has terrible customer service from my experience. Gunna ride this weekend so hopefully everything is golden.

Yes, this time ive gone through the Place i bought the fork and said i dont want back untill sorted. if they wont fix it, i want my money back
