Hey all,

I recently mounted up an M5100 11 speed derailleur which is designed to accommodate the 51 tooth cog. I am currently running the 11-46 cassette, and even with the b screw backed all the way out, the space between the jockey and cogs seems massive. I think it may be causing some lazy shifting, primarily when moving down the cassette to smaller cogs. I noticed that the Shimano website lists a "low sprocket_min" of 51T which I have not seen before, but perhaps this is why.

I am not feeling the need to run out and buy an 11-51T cassette right now. Anyone else run into this? If I install the derailleur "incorrectly" with the b screw contact tab flipped out of the way and let the b screw contact the tab on the drop out directly it gets considerably closer, but the screw makes contact at a really weird angle and barely on the edge I'd be worried about bending and/or weird wear.

Just live with it until its time to buy a new cassette? Anyone else running this derailleur on a smaller cassette than 11-51?

I just had a look through the installation manual and there's no solution to setting the distance with the B screw with your cassette.

Thanks. That was my take as well, but just needed the bad news corroborated. Confused

Curious if any adjustments would need to be made if going from the 11 speed 51-tooth casette to the 11-46 tooth? Is it an issue if only going larger?

This is the issue I am having. Out of adjustment range to go smaller. It will ride, the shifting is just lazy for a couple of gears.

I think it's to do with the nature of it being a long cage derailiuer.

Sucks they don't offer a medium length option that would allow smaller T count on the lowest gear/largest sprocket.
