I just picked up my Pivot Switchblade 29 Pro XT 22 Carbon. I was going to go for a ride today but noticed a few issues. It's not shifting into the biggest gear smoothly and probably needs an adjustment. The other one that concerns me is this noise it makes when the rear suspension is engaged. I wouldn't expect any unusual noises on a bike that didn't even have any test rides. The bike shop built it out of the box for me just last Friday after I paid for it on Thursday. I'm going to go back when they're open on Monday or Tuesday. Anyone else have this noise with there Pivot's with DW link? Thanks

I found this post and this guys Switchblade makes the exact same issue new. He said it’s the adhesive pealing away from the frame when it’s rebounding back. Apparently the bike shop he bought it from said it should away very shortly after a couple of rides. But the OP never posted back.

If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. I also just called the bike shop I bought it from and that's what they mentioned. But they didn't say anything about it going away after a few rides. I'm also hearing quite a bit of cable slap on the frame going over slightly rough terrain which seems annoying. I wish I took one of these out on a test ride before committing to my most expensive bike purchase ever. I hope I don't end up regretting my decision.

It does sound like the adhesive on the rubber guard over the lower link. It'll probably go away after a few rides once the unstuck adhesive gets dust on it and it's not tacky anymore. Alternatively, you can try to get some rubber cement or something in there to stick it down. I had some cable rattle on my Switchblade too and was able to eliminate it with some of the little clips that hold the cables/hoses together before they enter the frame. You could also use shrink wrap or electrical tape to stick the cables together so they don't hit each other. Pivot ships their bikes to the dealer with foam cable wraps that should have been installed in the frame. If the rattle is coming from inside the frame, check that. Also, check and make sure the cable port covers are tight. Good luck!

Thanks for your valuable input! When I take it back to the shop in the next day or two I'll see if they can do anything with the cabling to prevent the cable slap noise. I test road a Pivot Firebird and Mach 5.5 back in 2019 on some pretty rough trails and I don't recall being annoyed by any cable slap noise or other issues. I also road a 2019 Monndraker on a really rough trail and that thing was dead silent. Hopefully I can get them to fix the cable slap and the adhesive noise will go away or not bother me. Either way, it's not a very re-assuring start to my new rig ownership starting out. As I mentioned, I haven't even went on a trail ride yet and I'm thinking it's noisy.

Cool/Cool. I'm certainly hoping so! I'm sure I'll be stoked after taking it out for some front range trails. I'm coming from a 2008 Specialized Pitch Pro. So, it's a huge difference in technology!

Update, I got back to the shop I bought my bike at today. The guy confirmed the noise in my video and the reddit link I found that's the same is the rubber adhesive. I'm not sure if it will go away but I didn't notice after I road into the foothills for a quick ride. They dialed in my shifter and I'm not having issues with getting into my highest gear. It seems pretty dialed and I didn't even really notice any cable slap on my frame coming down the foothill and hitting some small rock jumps. So, maybe I was being a bit of a bitch boy after making a big purchase but I think I'm really going to like my new rig after I get it out on some real rides. Thanks for the info olngjnsn!

The "cable slap" sound is often caused by the shimano ice tech brake pads. The cooling fins can cause a rattling noise. Replace the pads with some normal ones or try some tape.

When I called Pivot the other day the guy that answered also suggested using some 3M adhesive or something on the cable ports. I don't know if he meant on the inside. The guy at the shop also checked the cables and they appeared nice and tight. I'm sure I'll be stoked after getting some good rides in. It's going to be way better than my old school 26'ers on descents. Not sure if it's going to be a whole lot better climbing yet but it will obviously roll over rocks and roots much better. Ride ON!

For the cables, I like to do the opposite. I stuff more cable into the downtube so that it pins itself against the inside. No rattle that way. If you pull tight, they can always loosen and you can only get the some tight, anyway.

Im also having a noise with my new switchblade. I have tried everthing I can think of to find it, except the taping of the brakes. Can you explain what to do on that?
You also mentioned getting new pads, without cooling fins? Or a different kind with fins?

I've spent the last week trying to find a clunk in the read end of my brand new Switchblade. I thought it was the Fox Transfer seatpost, cable slap, lose linkage, worn shock eyelet bushings, etc. but I've finally convinced myself its in the Fox Float X shock. Take a look at this forum: https://www.pinkbike.com/forum/listcomments/?threadid=232386&pagenum=2#commentid7186566 One rider even said that Fox installed a "no clunk" piston (a joke maybe?) but the rider said the clunk is gone now.
