I have a new Remedy 8, only a few months old and I'm already on my second KB adaptor. It is impossible to tighten the adaptor enough to stop the steerer slipping through under minimal load,
does anyone know of adaptors made by other brands that aren't so pissy & weak? something CNC'd with a larger bolt and a bit larger clamping surface?
tempted to buy an extra adaptor and weld it on top of the first, but I might not have enough steerer left for that.
worth noting I'm running the adaptor directly on top of the dust cap as intended by trek.
Having the same issue on a slash 8. Trek need to Make something better a 20m and 30mm version with more strength or create a version that has lugs on top ( like a spacer ) so you could stack them up with the final one being the version we have now with no lugs on top.
Seen so many posts that maybe Mitch from @Trek could post

I run my adapter on the bottom directly on top of the Knock Block. I’ve never had an issue with it, and I’ve had my bike for almost 3 years.
I am getting close to releasing a solution for this same problem. My design should add much more holding strength than the Trek version. This photo shows my 2x bolt version. I should have a 1x bolt version in the next week or 2. Both are made from Billet Aluminum and Made in USA. Final product will be anodized black. I will post a link once I have these ready for market!
Hey guys, I just got the 2 bolt units back from anodizing. Sneak peak photo. The 2x bolt unit will take up less than 1 inch (.985) of steerer tube. Working up a torque spec and packaging in next week or so then I will share a link to get yours!
Nice . How do these compare to the height and width of the original trek spacers?
Great question! My E-Caliber came with 2 of the 5mm and 2 of the 10mm Knock Block spacers. If I were to stack 2 of the 10mm and 1 of a 5mm spacers it is very nearly exactly the same as my 2 bolt collar.
Width info: 2 bolt collar is 1.44 inch, Trek Knock block spacers are 1.46 inch and a standard spacer is 1.36 inch. These new locking collars are designed to eliminate the need for the Knock Block spacers and stems so it would be best to use a standard headset spacer (if spacers are needed for your setup).
Side note - I will have more info on the single bolt collar I am offering to share soon as well. It is about 12.5mm (.492 inch) of steer tube take up.
Anyone looking for a locking collar to improve or replace the Trek Knock Block stem/spacers see below link. These are fresh out of a Made in USA machine shop and test fitted on several Trek bikes. I was able to get as much strength using the 2 bolt system with my Industry 9 stem as I got with the Trek OE stem. I created a little install video with link below if you want a closer look. Sorry for terrible music. Microsoft doesn't have a great free selection in their movie maker. LOL
Thank you everyone for following! Hope this helps your build like it did for me. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Not sure if this helps, but it's a cheaper alternative. You can file off the knock block tabs and run normal stem spacers. Did this on mine and is working fine. Then you don't have to use the clunky looking lock ring.
