does anyone know how to lower a 27.5 marzocchi bomber z1 fork to 80 or 90mm and ride it as a dirt jumper fork. i have seen this done a few times in the past and even ridden my friends z1 however i can not figure out how to shorten it to that length. i know for example sam pilgrim had one and also veronique sandler had a pair. i’m interested in doing this as z1 bombers are much easier to come across second hand and are often more reasonably priced

I don't know if it is worth converting a longer travel Z1. You would probably need a shorter air spring shaft (assuming you have the air spring version not coil). Some of them you can shorten the travel by installing spacers, i'm not sure how short you can go though.

If your bike has 26" wheels just get the 100mm bomber DJ https://www.marzocchi.com/collections/suspension/products/bomber-dj?variant=32097802748006

I’ve done some. Either fit shorter air shaft or just cut/drill shaft and refit piston.
