Gonna be in Quebec this week with full days tuesday-thursday. Staying about 20 mins from SDM and 40 ish from E47. Never ridden either, used to riding horseshoe, the pines, kelso, hyrdo and so on in Ontario. Was hoping to make the trip to VBN but it's too far for how long we're in QC.

I'm hoping to ride half days tuesday and thursday, any suggestions as to whether I should do E47 then SDM or vice-versa. I've also heard SDM is worth doing two days at.... Wondering what would be a good plan to for the week if anyone's been out there.

I love SDM and think two days there at least just because they have a lot of trails on two separate mountains. Depending how quick you can bike up the hill and how many times will determine how much of the place you will see.

Depending on how good of shape your in because I am always a bit surprised with how much longer the climbs are compared to Ontario. None of the places you ride have any elevation to consider a good climb. I ride all the same spots and I would say climbing Kelso ski hill would be close but I think Quebec terrain is three times that (?) or more.

I also think it’s better than E47, just my opinion.

If I was going to do both I think I would go to E47 first then SDM.

It’s a shame you won’t make it to VBN or St Raymond. I would normally do a SDM trip and the Neilson trails at VBN.

Hope that helps, truly a great area to ride regardless but I do love SDM. So many good trails out there to test drive!

Ended up doing 4 rides over 3 days at SDM, place was awesome and I barely scratched the surface. 2 rides on the first day, couple runs down Super G, then a trip over to the Maelstrom side and some Habanero. Day 2 was all Maelstrom, pretty much climbing to Slab City (cause you have to at least once) and Gold City and then last day was playing around on Habanero.

As a southern Ontario rider, I definitely wasn't ready for the climbs, took alot of post ride TLC to keep the legs fresh for the proceeding rides.

VBN is definitely on the list for next year, think we'll make the trip a few days longer. St Brigette area north of Quebec City was incredible and was an easy 25 minutes drive to SDM everyday. Lac-Beauport is easily one of my new favourite places ever!!!

Yeah, it’s so beautiful and underrated in my opinion.

At least now you know what to expect in the future! I love SDM, I think they have done a great job with it.

Hello Fellow Riders

Anyone ridden either area recently? SDM? or E47?
Review above still holds true? or have any recent improvements been made to either riding site?
Going to be in the area soon and just lining up some riding days

From what I've seen online, all the networks in the area have been getting lots attention both trail and media wise. I'll be back out there next month for a couple weeks and am hoping to hit all the marquee spots; SDM, E47, MSA, VBN/Shannahan & Le Massif. Depending on how long your trip is and your fitness level, it's not hard to spend a couple days at SDM and not ride half the trails, especially if you relap some of your favourites a couple times.
