The only diffrence is the chain line that it why they made the 150mm rear hub it so the chain line is better but there is not much diffrece i would go for 135 more airodynamic faster racing speed
they made 150mm rear ends to strengthen that particular area, the spokes are also run at the same angles creating a stiffer wheel.
specialized offer the same kind of thing on there demo range by offsetting the rear dropouts by 6mm.
So if i currently am running a 12x150 rear end on my dh set up and i were to buy a status which is 10 x135 is there anyway i would be able to switch my current wheel (deemax which i want to run on) to status without having to buy a whole new wheel?
Everything is pretty well covered though I do wonder and question the actual benefits. Sam opted to go with a 135 for the S-works, the standard demo runs a 150 so I'm curious as to why one of the best wanted to go with a 135.
Does it make a difference sure, but is it going to stop you winning no.
From what I've read, Sam and some of the others went with a 135 rear to save weight and also to have a narrower rear end making it easier to not get hung up through rock gardens and ruts. Also, at least with the spesh bikes, the stiffness between the 150 and the 135 is negligible.
@jackattack. Your current wheels will not work on the status, you can't make your hub narrower, seeing as how its a 150.
