Lets do a little history lesson, I found this thread in 2010 - whether anyone remembers or not, I actually didn't start the 100 days thread. I took it over after no one stepped up to do a new thread for 2011.
I was 20 when I took over the captains seat and Ill be 34 in 2024. That alone is wild! A whole lot of life has come and gone in these 14 years since I started keeping the 100 days thread going.
Back in 2010 I was 20 years old, Racing DH in college, and having my dirt jump progression catch up with me. I broke a collar bone, separated a shoulder, and than broke my ankle and my leg, in a 2.5 year span. These were some tough life lessons to learn, but ultimately It was a reality check. I found myself surfing the couch, more than doing any actual mountain biking. I sold the dirt jumper, built a trail bike and felt determined by this thread to work towards a new goal.
I was never going to win Crankworks or be a world cup racer, so I needed some new motivation! Strava and social media hadn't quite came onto the scene, so this thread became mine and others outlet to keep track of rides, and have a low pressure place to stay motivated, and socialize.
So, that was alot of words, more words than I normally put in here - I may not be the most vocal in here, but I read every post, and I appreciate each and every one of you. I see you hitting goals, getting out in the rain and the snow, commuting. Keeping the dream alive.
Lots of Love. Dev
Stats? 1591 days of riding since 2010. But it never feels like enough - Cheers!
Welcome to the home of bicycle addiction!
This thread will be used to keep track of rides, post awesome pictures / or videos, and gain motivation from others determination to achieve 100 (or more) days of riding in 2023!
The rules are as follows:
- Can be any type of riding (DH, FR, AM, XC, DJ, BMX, Road, commuting) - 45 minutes to an hour minimum constitutes a ride - A day of trail building can count as riding - You should come back and post, PICTURES would be even better! - Don't lose count. - 2 rides in one day is STILL only one day!
(0-50 You should ride more) (50-100 Average) (100-200 You're Addicted!) (200-250 Hard core!) (250-300+ living the dream!!)
Thanks Devin! I appreciate the words AND the history, and although I've only personally met one other on this thread, I look forward to reading everyone's progress each year. Maybe one of these years I'll actually get 100!
1- Solid day of digging and riding at Santos. Whole crew showed up and we got the place running the best I've seen it since I started riding there 8 years ago.
