I'm thinking about buying a seemingly good and cheap (300€) used Fox 34 SC MY2019 with FIT4 for my down-country hardtail. What are your experiences with this fork? Am I getting a good, sensitive but also lightweight DC fork or am I more concerned with tuning than riding because the fork doesn't work very well? Particularly in comparison to a more recent Step Cast or a normal 34, but especially to a SID Select or Ultimate and Pike.
Hey. I have three SC 34s - 2019, 2022, 2023. All are Fit4 and one of the newer is 51mm offset. The post 2022 has a slight redesign that makes it so much smoother for xc. But I never new I needed more fork before the redesign.
I love the 2018--2021 for bigger hits. It seems stiffer because it is wider. That comes with a little more weight, but that is only noticeable on the carbon xc hardtail.
All told. Great fork, easy to service, plenty of part availability.
