I want to buy a mountainbike that I can use for trail riding "offroad". I know some cheap bikes have a warning that they are not designed for that
How can I decide which is a real mountainbike?
I want to buy a used one, probably hardtail. Is that ok? buying a used and then riding it. (I have 300$ limit)

P.s sorry if I opened the thread in the wrong place

Starting with no knowledge, I’d probably google it to see if it’s been reviewed by a mountain biking publication and what score they gave it.

As a general rule, it it doesn’t have a recognised brand name, or it comes from a supermarket then it probably isn’t a mountain bike.

Your best bet is to buy one from the buy and sell on here and when you have one picked out , repost on here and you can get more advice if it's a good fit and price. It's easy to get mislead without much experience.
