HI.

Sorry for what is probably a repeated theme in posts. IM new to ohlins and new to coil shocks. Im looking at a new ebike ( Turbo Levo Ohlins model ) which has a ohlins ttx 210x55 coil shock. Specialized tuned.

Before buying the bike i want to confirm that i can actually use the set up. IM a bigger rider ( 105kg - 235ish lbs ) .. the bike comes with a 500lb spring as stock, ive been googling and speaking to different stores about the coil i might need. the advice is wildly different. some people say 550 lbs as its a progressive coil? other say 700+.. through a friend I was told specialized tune the shocks and because of this I only need a 600lb spring, others said 700lbs and re valve, last person said avoid it. Levo is very linear the 700lbs spring will be like a pogo and rebound adjustment won’t be enough on this shock.

feeling like im not really getting the right or consistent information and hoping that some on the ground expertise in this group might be able to direct me a little, ive used different calculators aswell. again different outcomes, so im wondering what im missing. I’ve tried to contact ohlins ( no reply ) and specialized.

i guess the other question is "is this a good shock for me and if the frx38 fork right ". I like flow, i like small jumps, im learning, id be an intermediate. im 48 so i dont see myself going to smash through massive rock gardens and 40ft gaps. literally learning how to jump, want a comfortable ride to take out the chatter and remove the pain going through my hands.. im on blue trails, be lucky to get to black in the next year as i ride with my wife and shes also blue and less keen to progress.. Is this set up overkill. maybe. but im restricted in what i can buy locally due to such limited stock and so this option has just popped up on the specialized site.

any help is appreciated. I’ve posted elsewhere so sorry to anyone seeing this on other pages. thanks

Great shock! Have the shop check sag with the 500# spring. If greater than 30% of stroke you need to go up in rate. Spring calculators can get you really close sometimes, but not foolproof. Ohlins USA is also very good at helping their customers, give them a shout maybe.

Cheers. The confusing part is some shock shops telling me at 700lb spring rate ( which is what they think I need ). Will mean the rebound adjustment will be useless as not enough clicks and I’ll be riding a pogo stick. What I’d love to know is if the specialized tune the shocks in some way that I’d only need a 600lb coil as that’s what one store suggested but so far I’ve not been able to get specialised or ohlins to confirm .
