I just purchased a slightly used Push 11-6 for my Transition Spire. Shock looks to be in great condition. When I mount it up there is play coming from the lower shock mount. My previous shock, Super Deluxe, had no play. The Push is the latest S version 11-6 with the sperical bushing. I have measured the width of the shock mounting hardware to 29.35mm and the shock mounting hardware from the Super Deluxe to 29.75mm.
I can't figure out what is causing the play. The mounting hardware all looks to be in good condition with no visible wear.
So do those spherical bushings get play in them?
Is the difference in width of shock hardware causing the play? Push do shimmed mounting hardware that should make up for that difference. I will probably try this first I guess.
I know spires are prone to getting play in the lower shock mounting and there is chat about filing down this or that and other janky sounding fixes. Anyone actually have experiance with any of that working?
I had the same issue on my Transition Scout swapping from the stock Fox Float X to Rockshox Super Deluxe with new hardware. The Fox hardware had plastic spacers on each side that took up some extra space. Had to get some .1mm shims (made for an RC car I think) to remove play from the Rockshox hardware.
I measured everything too and it’s Transition’s tolerances that are slightly out of spec. Same with the upper linkage on mine - about 1.5mm off to the non-drive side. I emailed Transition Warranty about it with photos and everything but they just blew me off.
