I have a brand new NOS marzocchi bomber Z1 air fork. Purchased as a 180mm. The bike I plan to install the fork on to, limits 160mm. The air chamber needs to be replaced for a 160mm it's about $80 depending on source. The question I have is how easy it is to change? Am I better off paying a company who has all of the expensive speciality tools?

How NOS are we talking? Do you have an estimate of what year the form was made?

Believe it's a 2019 or 2020 fork. I have the original box and everything all the Spacers and all that stuff they came with for volume reduction.

Sorry to answer with links, my 36 is running a z1 coil so I’m out of the air shaft game: looks doable if you have a few of these tools already or plan to get them for future service(s).

The 160mm air shaft is on sale at Backcountry at the moment FYI.

FYI: Switching your Z1 to coil makes it easier to change travel by switching spacers. If you’re open to coil or might want to adjust your travel in the future that might be worth thinking about.

Good luck!

Since this for is going on a all mountain/ trail bike, I want the air suspension. Thanks for all the links. Helpful in different ways.
