After two weeks with a broken Spectral, I got this message from Canyon telling me I will be without a bike indefinitely or even permanently,"As part of our internal process, I have to temporarily close your case until I get an update from our operations team on the availability of the headset part you need.

I have your cases saved on my end so once I get an update from our team I will provide you an update right away.

You will receive a customer satisfaction survey in 4 days. Please wait to complete the customer satisfaction survey until your service is complete and we have submitted your reimbursement.

Note: After 21 days of inactivity, your case will be permanently closed and can be re-opened by calling our customer service team at the number below.

For your reference your case number is 06759146 and again please note this kind of request can take between 1-2 weeks to get an answer from our team"

I am sitting with a lovely $4200 paperweight now and like most people I can't just buy another bike. So this is just my warning that if you buy a Canyon you run a serious risk of just being left without a bike that you spent thousands on indefinitely.

What broke exactly?

Why not just buy the headset part you need and see if canyon will reimburse you? If that is an option.

The compression ring for the headset. I absolutely cannot find one anywhere that matches the weird through headset one they used. If one was available elsewhere you'd imagine they would let me know or at least try to help me find out where

I'd try posting on the Mechanics Quick Question thread and see if those guys can help.

I know that "through headset routing" stuff is a terrible PITA, but maybe they know a place to get what you need.

Thank you. I genuinely appreciate it. I am so tired and frustrated and was praying Canyon could've just told me where I could get one instead of saying I'm s.o.l indefinitely

Hope you get the assistance you need; I saw on the News article comments and also on the Mechanics forum that folks are giving suggestions to replace the broken thing. May have to dip into your wallet and replace the entire headset with a better one, but it's better than being without a bike.

Good luck.

Thank you! It's just if I replace the whole headset I lose the KIS system

What about the ENVE kit that one commenter suggested? Maybe it will accommodate the KIS.

I'm having problems with Canyon about warranting my Spectral:ON as well. Bikes is six months old. Wouldn't turn on. Contacted Canyon then took it to a "Canyon Authorized Service Center" in Michigan. First time they had ever serviced a Canyon emtb. Canyon immediately passed off the warranty claim to Shimano, who denied it because the young shop technician determined that the issue was cause by "impact." When confronted in person, the technician and shop owner admitted their error, given the lack of any evidence of an impact or crash and the nature of the faulty motor wire. Still, I was sent an invoice for $700 dollars. More details to come, but the shop also found a cracked knock block spacer, as well, but this had nothing to do with the wiring issue and defective motor controller. Shop owner was cool enough to send me a link to a German company for the parts. I'll post that soon.
Shop owner let me have my bike without paying, but I haven't heard anything since from either the shop, Canyon or Shimano. Strange way to do business.
I'll post updates in a few days.
