Suitability for a Scott Spark 910 vs Spark RC World Cup

Hi all,

I'm considering either a Scott Spark 910 or World Cup RC model.

Unfortunately I can't seem to try them both at a bike shop in the UK.

I'm aware of the differences between them on paper. I'm a more casual trail/'downcountry' rider (mostly Swinley Forest trails for those in the UK) but I'm wondering whether I'd prefer to sacrifice the 10mm extra travel of the 910 (130/120) (RC is 120/120) for the lighter weight of the RC (11kg vs 12.5kg for the 910). The other major difference is the handlebar rise which is 0 deg for the 910 and -12 deg for the RC.

Would the RC be too uncomfortable for me as a more casual and not super fit rider? I don't know how great the difference between them is in reality.

Btw, although there's normally a fairly large price difference between them, I can get them for roughly the same price, hence the dilemma.

I have a 930 spark. I use it on a mix of trails from green to single black, plus a little endurance racing.

I'd go with the 910, including for endurance racing. I don't think travel matters, but the parts spec is just better for most riding.

Handlebar is one of them, I prefer a little more rise than the 910 for long rides even, though the one it comes with is fine.

Brakes, dropper post, fork, and tires are all better on the 910. (I'd swap the front tire for something slightly less washout prone though).

Devil's advocate: Wheels are lighter in the RC. I prefer mechanical to electronic shifting, but if you feel strongly about electronic shifting, maybe the RC with a handle bar, stem, and dropper swap would work well.
