From Passion to Purpose: Building EnduroBro to Empower Grassroots Mountain Biking

By Jeremy Martinez

For as long as I can remember, action sports like skate, moto and snowboarding have been a defining part of my life. I’ve always chased the thrill of pushing boundaries and connecting with others through a shared love for adventure. But seven years ago, I found mountain biking, and it completely changed the game for me. It became more than just a passion—it was an outlet, a community, and a lifestyle.

As I immersed myself in the world of riding and racing, I quickly realized something: grassroots mountain bike races are the heart and soul of this sport. They’re where the community comes alive, where new riders find their footing, and where seasoned racers reconnect with their roots. Yet, despite their importance, organizing these events can feel like an uphill climb. Timing multiple stages, managing racers, and pulling it all together with limited resources often discourages people from hosting local events. That’s where the idea for EnduroBro began.

Creating a Solution for Local Races

EnduroBro is a race timing app built to make grassroots mountain bike racing more accessible for organizers and more fun for participants. It’s designed to handle everything from race creation to stage timing and final results sharing. The app uses two iOS devices—one at the start line and one at the finish—to record stage times for up to 100 stages and an unlimited number of racers. Whether you’re hosting a kids’ race or a multi-stage enduro, EnduroBro makes timing simple, efficient, and accurate.

The idea came from my own experiences as both a racer and someone who has helped with local events. I wanted to create a tool that would remove some of the logistical headaches, so organizers could focus on what really matters: creating memorable experiences and fostering community.

A Journey Fueled by Passion

Developing EnduroBro was as much a personal challenge as it was a technical one. I didn’t have a background in app development, so I had to learn from scratch. It reminded me of those early days learning to navigate rock gardens and tricky descents—trial and error, frustration, and the occasional breakthrough. I spent countless nights coding and testing, driven by the vision of helping grassroots racing grow.

The result is an app built by a rider, for riders. It’s intuitive, streamlined, and tailored to the unique needs of mountain bike races. From managing racer data and stage times to sharing results with participants, EnduroBro is designed to take the stress out of race day logistics.

Building Community, One Race at a Time

What excites me most about EnduroBro isn’t just the technology—it’s the potential to strengthen the grassroots racing community. Racing has given me so much over the past seven years: focus, clarity, and friendships I’ll carry for a lifetime. With EnduroBro, I hope to give something back by encouraging more people to host local events and grow their communities.

One of the proudest moments in this journey was hosting the inaugural All For One Enduro at Sky Tavern bike park. It was a small race, but the energy was huge—kids as young as 10 years old tackling their first stages, seasoned racers trading high-fives at the finish, and spectators lining the course to cheer everyone on. It reminded me why I fell in love with this sport and why grassroots events are so important.

Looking Ahead

EnduroBro is just the beginning. I’m already developing a companion app called EnduroBuddy to let racers and spectators view live results, track standings, and filter data by class or stage. My goal is to make grassroots racing more accessible, efficient, and exciting for everyone involved. Whether you’re a first-time organizer or a seasoned pro, EnduroBro is here to support you.

Mountain biking has an incredible way of bringing people together, and I want to help keep that spirit alive. If you’re a local race organizer or someone dreaming of starting an event in your area, I’d love to connect and show you how EnduroBro can make it happen. Together, we can grow the grassroots racing scene and keep the stoke alive for the next generation of riders.

If you’d like to get your hands on EnduroBro or learn more, feel free to reach out. Let’s build something incredible together. @ridejmtz
