DMR frame

I am looking to get into the sport and found this frame locally. The seller's description on this frame says 22.5 top tube and 26". I am 6ft 230lbs. Would this frame be decent to get started on? I am mechanically inclined and would love to build a bike. Main purpose of the bike is to ride around with the kids and light jumping. Any feedback is appreciated.

great for a dedicated DJ'er an ChrMo steel for a big fella.
Not sure on the length as DJ'ers are small generally but do come in different lengths.
Or
look into someting like a 4X bike that's pretty much a longer DJ'er with gears If you want to pedal about longer rides

That frame would probably be fine to get you rolling, especially if you just want to cruise with the kids and mess around a bit. At your size it might feel a little small/short, but for learning and light jumping it’s not a bad place to start. Since you’re handy with tools, building it up could be a fun project too. Worst case, if you get more into it later you can always upgrade to something bigger or more modern.

Yeah that frame would work fine for getting into it, especially if you’re just messing around with the kids and hitting some small jumps. At your size you might feel a little cramped on a straight DJ frame though, so checking out a 4X or even a freeride hardtail could give you a bit more room while still being tough.

Thank you for all the feedback and suggestions. The main thing I was worried about was going to be the size of the bike. I have some more researching to do. Honestly started looking at a hardtail mtb first as there are trails in my area but I saw this frame and thought it would be sweet to build it from the ground up and be relative inexpensive.

22.5 toptube is what I rode for years at almost 6foot3".
If your coming from modern trail bike geo, it'll feel like a BMX .... if your coming from a BMX, it'll actually feel decently big compared to what your used to.
22.5 feels best for tight/small pumptracks, park, street and very aggressive steep jump lines. My 6foot2" buddy runs my old 22.5" norco one25 on decently big jumps and loves it.

If your looking for more something that's super comfortable to get on after riding modern trail bike type geometry, then a transition PBJ size large chromoly frame has a 440mm reach which is about a 23.5 toptube from what I've measured and it does feel roomier. It looses that BMX feel though.

I think you'd enjoy building that frame up. You would want to go over it super carefully with a flashlight especially near the bb and seat tube/toptube junction and the headtube to make sure there's no hairline cracks.

The other important thing to note. It looks like it's a Mid BB so that means BMX style cranks only.
And is that a tapered headtube? It looks like it but you'd want to confirm that because that makes it compatible with any dj fork.

Try to confirm what frame it is.
