I have a RockShox Super Deluxe coil shock with a bottom bearing mount shaft (30 mm, M8 bolt) instead of a standard bushing. My new frame accepts a 30 mm mount, but the bolt is M10 instead of M8.
I found bearings with the same OD and a 10 mm ID, but I haven’t been able to find any reports of someone successfully doing this swap. Is it possible to replace the bearing with one that has a larger ID? Are there other alternatives? Has anyone solved this without replacing the shock shaft? Or should I just sell the shock?
You have been waiting for a while for an answer!. In my opinion, yes if you found new bearings that are the same OD and width, and a larger ID it will work fine. That's what I would do.
Bro, I’d just leave the shock alone or sell it. Forcing a bigger bolt in a bearing is sketchy AF and could wreck the shock or frame. People usually either get the right shock or adapt the frame hardware, not mess with the bearing.
He didn't ask if he should force an oversize bolt into the existing bearing. He asked if he could change the bearing to one that fit the bolt, frame, and the shock.
