picked up a new to my boy Stinky TL. Pretty awesome shape, even the bike shop looked at it and was impressed that the old domain and the Kona (fastrax?) shock was still doing well

my issue is, he's about 4'11 RN and this is the smallest 15" frame, which means that he needs the seat just a bit lower. I had the seat right at the bottom when it had a 400lb spring, and since picked up a 250 and a 300

With the 250, it may work if I raise the seat, but it seems like the linkage itself already sags the coil quite a bit Razz

oh to mention he's still like 75lbs

Also the stupid seat clamp (Kona's) is a QR 34.9 and it looks like it also bangs the linkage... I can't imagine that being normal ugh.

eah that’s a classic issue on those older Stinkys.

Kid’s just too light for the bike, with a 250 spring at ~75lbs, it’s still gonna sag a ton, so the linkage comes up and smacks stuff. Those bikes were built around way heavier riders.

And yeah the QR seat clamp hitting the linkage isn’t normal, but happens when the post is slammed super low plus lots of sag.

yeah I'm thinking I'll just put the 300, grab a 350 and have the og 400 as he gets heavier. Its quite a bit of a shorter coil for the 160 linkage, vs. a DHX 5.0 on a 200mm stinky.
