any avid mech brake... hydro's are too much trouble... the amount of trouble is justified for a DH/FR bike where you need the stopping power... but it doesn't make sense when a simple mechanical brake will do... on that note, i too would go with an Avid BB7

There is no best brake for dirt jumping, it's all preference, like there is no "Best DH bike" there will always be other opinions.

A lot of people like the BB7, very adjustable and fair priced.

If you are going hydro, a juicy 5 would be more than enough.

Vees. Disks bend and ruin your ride.

my opinion, mechanical with a dangerboy mechanical lever. i bought one and new housing and my mechanical feels like a juicy 3

Anything cable. Not hydraulic as you dont need the stopping power of a hydraulic brake! Its a waste of money. They're great on DH bikes, but thats it.
I would say the Gusset Chute. Or one of the Avids

bb5, bb7, some of the hayes mechanical brakes that actually work, and possibly a set of hayes ine or shimano hydraulic. hydraulics stop you on a dime

definately bb5s if your going mechanical, if your going hyrdo, then i agree with juicy 5, no need to spend extra on the 7.
