Actually Avid rotors are slightly thicker. It'll work but it takes more attention to setup and once they get out of true it'll be hard to get rid of the rubbing.

Not really. Hayes pads don't retract as far as Avids. The slot in the caliper itself is actually narrower too.

ya, avids should be so much more grippier (yes, i said grippier). They also have way better modulation and wont be AS likely to send you over the bars
